You might feel like your entire room is filled with sound instead of hollow crooning. Subwoofer causes the audio to sound much more full-bodied than an ordinary 2.0 set. The reason is you don’t realize what you are missing. The enthusiasm of that one friend who raves about subwoofers is likely to get you eventually. If you already have a pair of great 2.0 speakers, the subwoofer might not be doing much for you. But 2.1 speakers need you to make extra space for the sub. Usually the 2.0 speakers sound tinny in comparison. 2.1 computer speakers sound more dynamic and richer. If you are a gamer, you definitely need them. Do you need them? For a half decent music reproduction, yes you need them. This is dedicated to producing bass aplenty.
This is why 2.1 speakers have a separate subwoofer piece. You will have a big woofer and space for reflection. The upside is that they are space-saving and may be cheaper than 2.1 speakers of similar capabilities.

But a small 3-inch driver cannot reproduce the lower-end frequencies well all on its own.

The drivers in this speaker pair try to produce all frequencies from bass to treble.
The best 2.0 speakers are a set of two full-range speakers without a subwoofer.

We picked out the best of them so that your upgrade does not go wasted this time. No 2.0 speaker system can match up with the best 2.1 computer speakers in their dynamic audio. Having a subwoofer to pump out this low-frequency stream is only logical. This slow, underlining force can make or break the song for you. Why not move on to a 2.1 computer speaker set? This 3-member gang of a subwoofer and two satellite speakers can shake up the things a bit. I think the altec ATP3 is still better. Is it that time of the decade when you change the battered speakers standing guard on either side of your PC? Maybe they are damaged or maybe they don’t fulfil your need for bass anymore. Also tested the Altec Octane 7 and at high volumes, the audio gets distorted. And this is more expensive at around php8k compared to the z623s php6500k. I also noticed its cord between the subwoofer and satellite is a bit short specially if you're placing the subw at the floor. It's subwoofer is quite big in size that you will need a big floor space. The m圆021's satellite isn't as crisps as the z623s. I also tested the altec lansing m圆021 which is the counterpart of the z623 but personally I would go for the Logitech z623.

I usually don't turn up the bass control volume at full levels as the bass is strong enough a little over half volume. Bass is deep and soft with a nice touch in watching movies or playing music. With the RMS at 200 watts, I only turn up the volume at around 30%. It's satellite speakers produces crisps sound specially with the "s" in the lyrics. The z623 sound is quite good with a good balance of lows and highs. I ended up getting the z623 and this is also hard to find as it's out of stock in many stores. I read the z2300 as being one of the best 2.1 speakers for the last 6 years. Long story short-if all you have are stereo speakers then all you need are a good pair of stereo cables.Ĭlick to expand. For Z2300 I've searched in all stores at Gilmore, SM Cyberzones in Megamall and North Edsa, SM Manila and they don't have this model anymore. If the receiver only outputs L/R stereo and drops the rest then you might hear very soft dialogue or no dialogue at all! For example, voice/dialogue is often channeled to the center speaker. In that case, if the multi-channel material was specifically authored for 5/7.1 output then you might miss a lot of audio information. In some cases, a receiver will drop the other (rear/side) channels and only output the L/R stereo and LFE.

In fact, PS3 games often output multi-channel and the PS3 downmixes it to stereo anyway for SDTV (or your TV downmixes it if using HDMI). Not terrible, and sometimes indistinguishable from pure stereo audio. In certain cases, you might even get worse sound.Ī 5/7/.1 channel sound sent to receiver hooked up to 2.1 speakers only will most of the time cause the receiver to mix all the left channels into the left stereo output, and likewise for the right.
